About BSI Band
Brass Sounds Inverclyde is a fairly new band formed in 2004. As with all new contesting bands, we began our contesting career in the 4th section and our first ever contest was the Whitburn Invitational. We won the Scottish 3rd Section in 2011. In 2013 BSI Band came a creditable 5th at the Regionals in Perth playing "Hollywood". In 2016 the BSI Band won the 4th Section at the Regionals in Perth and represented Scotland well for the second time in six years at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in Cheltenham. In 2017 the band came a creditable 4th out of 11 bands in the 3rd Section playing 'Darkwood'; not bad for a band newly promoted.
In April 2015 we won the Best Instrumentalist award for flugel horn Ali McCorkell at the Fife Brass Band festival. The Adjudicator, Nigel Boddice, said the band had good potential. So, its good time to consider joining us for the few vacancies we need to fill or just for a wee blow.
BSI comprises players of all ages and rehearsals take place once a week on a Wednesday night. We play a wide variety of musical styles ranging from classical to modern light rock / pop. We always endeavour to keep our entertainment programmes interesting and varied. The band employs a resident conductor to deliver professional musical direction for both contesting and general performances and it’s our ongoing aim always to be improving.
